Amos Darr and Henrietta V. Adams

Some of the following information on the Darr family was garnered from the 1850, 1880, 1900 and 1910 U.S. Census'.

Included in the names and dates is information provided by The Greene County Genealogical and Historical Society in Carrollton, IL.

Amos and Henrietta were married in 1862.

The 1900 census shows A. M. Darr (Amos in 1910). This is surely Fred's father. Amos and his wife, Henrietta, lived in Kane Township of Greene County. He was born in Pennsylvania in Dec., 1833, as were both his parents. She was born in Illinois in Sep., 1844. Her parents were both born in Kentucky.

They had 11 children only 5 were still living.

Amey was born Nov., 1876 in Illinois and still lived at home in 1900 with his brother
Alva who was born Nov., 1880. Fred, who was married by this time was born June, 1864.
Robert, who was married also to Minnie, seems to be another son since the father/mother relationships fit. He was born June, 1870.

There were many Darrs listed in the 1900/1910 census'.

Amos and Henrietta rented a farm (Schedule #125 (whatever that is)). The schedule number appears to be a numbering scheme for farms in the area since they were in numerical order on the census.

The following information was taken from Family Group records provided by the Greene County Historical and Genealogical Society in Carrollton, Ill. It corroborates much of what the census has provided.

Amos Darr married Henrietta V. Adams Sep. 4, 1864. His parents were George Darr and Rebecca Hoffman. He was born in Cumberland, Pa. (Nov. 3, 1838). He died in Greene County and is buried in Carter Cemetery in Green County. She was born in Green Co. (no date), died Jan. 7, 1930 and is also buried in Carter Cemetery. Her parents were Elizabeth and Richard Adams.

Amos and Henrietta had the following children, all born in the same area in Greene County, Illinois.

Frederick, born Mar. 31, 1889 (this date was posted incorrectly, it is his marriage date) and married Sarah Coonrod.
Robert, born June 6, 1867, married Minnie Williams June 29, 1891 and died Mar. 18, 1961.
Blanch who married Lee Andrews.
Grace, born Jan. 1884 and married Harry Carter Feb. 18, 1900.
Charles who married Eley Barn Sep. 2, 1894.
Amos who married Nellie Whellock.
Alva, who married Bertha Reno on May 25, 1902.
William born Dec. 15, 1875, married Lizzie Stone on Dec. 11, 1898 and died Sep. 15, 1944.

Note that Amos Darr's birth dates varies in different sources. The 1850 census, showing him as the son of George and Rebecca shows him born in 1839. The 1900 census shows him as born in Dec. 1833. The Greene Co. G & H Society shows him born 3, Nov. 1838.
